The Trek Route
The 7 days Everest Base Camp Trek starts with an adventurous flight to Tenzing Hillary airport in Lukla from Kathmandu. Our trek journey begins from Lukla as we pass through the various settlements of the Everest region. We start our trek from Lukla to Phakding in a short duration hike.
We will then trek to Namche Bazaar, the commercial hub of the region. Namche is an incredible town with many acclimatization spots. We then trek to Tengboche and Dingboche the following days. From Dingboche, we will travel to Lobuche the next day before arriving at the magnificent Everest Base Camp.
After exploring and taking some incredible pictures in the Everest Base Camp, we head back to Gorak Shep. From Gorakshep, we will take a scenic helicopter ride to Lukla overlooking the Himalayas. Detailed Itinerary - 7 Days Everest Base Camp Trek
Day 01: Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding
Maximum altitude: 2860 m
Flight duration: 35 minutes
Trek duration: 3-4 hours
After an adventurous flight to Lukla from Kathmandu, we will start our exciting trekking journey. The flight lands at the short runway of the Tenzing - Hillary airport and we start our trekking adventure from Phakding.
The trail then moves along the banks of the serene Dudh Kosi river towards the village of Ghat. After 3-4 hours, we arrive at Phakding, where we stay overnight at a local teahouse.
Day 02: Trek to Namche Bazaar
Maximum altitude: 3440 m
Trek duration: 4-5 hours
After an early breakfast, we start our trek to Namche Bazaar, a commercial hub of the region. The trails first pass through a suspension bridge from where we observe a scenic waterfall. The majestic views of the magnificent Mt. Thamserku amazes us along the trail.
We further cross a suspension bridge to arrive at Monjo village. The trails then enter the UNESCO listed natural heritage site of the Sagarmatha National Park. After displaying our permits at the checkpoint, we will resume our trek in the Khumbu valley towards Jorsale.
We have our lunch at Jorsale and continue our trek through several bridges along the banks of the Dudh Koshi river. The trail then finally leads us to the famous Namche Bazaar, where we spend the night at a Lodge. There are many exploration points in Namche. You will stay overnight at a lodge in Namche.
Day 03: Trek to Tengboche
Maximum altitude: 3860 m
Trek duration: 5 hours
After an early breakfast, we start our to Tengboche on a relatively easy trail. After trekking for a few hours, we arrive at Kyanjuma from where we can observe the entire Everest Mahalangur Himalayan range.
The forested trails pass through the rhododendron and pine trees. We then trek for around 45 minutes to arrive at the serene Phunki Tenga river. We trek further for some time to arrive at Tengboche.
The Tengboche village is a beautiful Himalayan settlement in the lap of Mt. Ama Dablam. The ancient Tengboche monastery is the spiritual hub of the region. We will spend the night at a lodge in Tengboche.
Day 04: Trek to Dingboche
Maximum altitude: 4350 m
Trek duration: 5 hours
After an early breakfast, we start our trek through alpine forests of rhododendron and fir trees. We cross the wooden bridge that leads us to Pangboche after 30 minutes. Then, we have our lunch at Pangboche and continue our trek following the extensive trail through a narrow path. After a trek of 3 hours, we arrive at Dingboche, where we stay overnight at a lodge.
Day 05: Trek to Lobuche
Maximum altitude: 4910 m
Trek duration: 5 hours
After breakfast, we start our steep ascent trail to Lobuche. You can observe the majestic snow-capped mountains, including Mt. Everest, Amadablam, Makalu, and others. We will resume our trek for 2-2.5 hours, before arriving at Thukla.
We can observe the majestic Memorial Chorten, built in memory of climbers who perished during the Mt. Everest expedition. The trail then leads us to the stunning Lobuche Pass from where we can observe the serene Khumbu glacier. We trek further for 2 hours to arrive at Lobuche, where we stay overnight.
Day 06: Trek to Everest Base Camp and Gorak Shep, Helicopter flight to Lukla.
Maximum altitude: 5365 m
Trek Duration: 6-8 hrs
Flight duration: 20 minutes
After breakfast, we start our trek to the magnificent Everest Base, which is around 3.5 km away from Lobuche. We pass through various moraines and dunes to arrive at the base camp. The majestic views of the Khumbu glacier, icefalls, and the surrounding mountains will enchant you.
The bustling, vibrant atmosphere of the Everest Base Camp is quite an attraction. After spending some time at the Base Camp, we return to Gorakshep. It is a frozen lake bed and also the original base camp for the Everest expedition.
From Gorakshep, you can take the stunning helicopter ride to Lukla overlooking the snow-capped Himalayan ranges. The incredible helicopter tour is a once in a lifetime experience. We will stay overnight at a lodge in Lukla.
Day 07: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu
