Jomsom and Muktinath Trekking is widely famous inside and outside the nation. The deep valleys and high mountains encircling the giant Annapurna mountains has a wide range of people of various culture and terrain. There are people from subtropical jungle to a high, dry landscape resembling the Tibetan Plateau.

 

Overview of 13 Days Muktinath Trekking Itinerary:

Early in the morning, fly from Pokhara to Jomsom through close up view of the Himalayan Annapurna & Dhaulagiri. Trekking starts from Jomsom to Muktinath. We can visit Hindu & Buddhist shrines and explores their culture, rituals and trek down the Natural hot spring (Tato Pani). We see the best sunrise view from poon hill and trek down to Nayapul drive to Pokhara.

 

Short trek along the Kali Gandaki River, the life of the Thakali who make this area their home and from Kagbeni peak north towards the long forbidden Kingdom of Mustang.

 

Highlights of Muktinath Trek:

The highlight of the trek is trekking through the gorge carved by the Kali Gandaki River, which originates from the Tibetan plateau to eventually flow into the Ganges in India, the temple of Muktinath, although dedicated to Vishnu, is sacred to both Hindu and Buddhist and many ascetic sadhus gather here.

 

Muktinath is the perfect place to find fossilized ammonites, known locally as Shaligram, which are found all along the upper reaches of Kali Gandaki.

 

Muktinath is the famous pilgrimage site for Buddhists and Hindus. To Hindus, Muktinath is a sacred place of salvation. They believe that bathing in the waters here guarantees salvation after death. The Hindu god, Brahma, is said to have lit the eternal flames that burn at Muktinath.

 

For Buddhists, Muktinath is a place where the great sage guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) came to meditate. People living in this area are mostly Gurungs and Magars. In the lower regions of the Kali Gandaki, Thakalis around Jomsom and people from Tibetan roots, the Lopa, around Muktinath and up to Mustang. These people have their own unique customs and attire.

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu Airport. Transfer to Hotel.

After you arrive at Kathmandu Airport, the representative from our agency will welcome you at the airport and shift you to a hotel. Later, we will give a short briefing of the voyage which is followed by a welcome dinner in a typical Nepalese kitchen.

 

Day 02: Drive to Pokhara by Tourist bus. Overnight at Pokhara. (B)

After our breakfast, we will drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara by a tourist bus where we can have sight of some wonderful scene of the river and countryside throughout our drive. After we arrive at Pokhara, with some refreshments.

Sightseeing tour to places like Davi’s fall, Gupteshore cave, famous Fewa Lake boating and others will be done. From here your Jomsom and Muktinath Trekking will begin. We shall be staying overnight in a hotel.

 

Day 03: Fly To Jomsom 25min then, 3hr trek to Kagbeni (2800m) Overnight at tea House. (B/L/D)

Early in the morning, you will take a 3 hours flight from Pokhara to reach Jomsom and start trekking to Kagbeni. Today we will walk to Kagbeni (280m), our checkpoint for the entry to Upper Mustang. It will take around 5 hours. Overnight at the tea house.

 

Day 04: Trek to Muktinath (3800m) 5hr. Overnight at tea house. (B/L/D)

Today, we climb abruptly to 3880m from Kagbeni to Muktinath taking 5 hours. Muktinath is considered as one of the most revered pilgrimage sites for Hindus and a home for Buddhists and Tibetan ethnic groups.

This place is well known for sacred water flowing from 108 carved spouts that surrounds Bishnu Temple in an orchard of poplars. Overnight at a tea house.

 

Day 05: Trek to Jomsom (2700m) 5hr. Overnight at tea house. (B/L/D)

Departing from Muktinath we will trek back to Jomsom taking 5 hours. Overnight at a tea house.

 

Day 06: Trek to Kalopani (2530m) 5hr. Overnight at tea house.(B/L/D)

We drive through the beautiful rural community of overwhelmed houses and abundant grasslands. Following the Kaligandaki River, we arrive at the old trading center of Thakali people called Tukuche. We can observe the Himalayan rain dusk, coniferous forests and reach Kalopani (2560m). Overnight at a tea house.

 

Day 07: Trek to Tatopani (1190m) 5hr. Overnight at tea house. (B/L/D)

Today, our walk continues from Kalopani to Tatopani (1190m) which literally means hot spring that provides a perfect chance for a relaxing bath. It takes around 5 hours to reach Tatopani. Overnight at a tea house.

 

Day 08: Trek to Shikha (1935m) 5hr. Overnight at tea house. (B/L/D)

On this day we will trek to Shikha that lies at an elevation of 1935m leaving Tatopani. It takes around 5 hours. Overnight at a tea house.

 

Day 09: Trek to Ghorepani (2860m) 5hr. Overnight at tea house.(B/L/D)

Early morning, we start our walk to Ghorepani (2840m) steadily hiking the entire day. We eventually walk through the terraced pastures and dense rhododendron forest to Ghorepani village.

We arrange our camp at the pass, for the best panorama of sundown over the stunning, hoary Annapurna Range and Mt Dhaulagiri. Overnight at a tea house.

 

Day 10: Early in the morning Hiking up to Poon hill see the Sunrise View and Back to the Hill (1430m) 6hr. Overnight at tea house. (B/L/D)

Today is the most remarkable day of our entire trek.  We begin our trip hiking to Poon Hill (3210m) which lets us view the wonderful vista of sunrise over the snow-capped mountains. Annapurna South (7119m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri south, Annapurna I (8091m), Fishtail (6993m) and many more peaks can be seen from here.

Subsequently, we descend to Ghorepani and continue our walk to Tadapani for 6 hours. Trek leads mostly up and downhill all the way through the forest. Overnight at tea house.

 

Day 11: Trek to Nayapul & drive to Pokhara overnight at Pokhara. (B/L)

Today, our trek tumbles down for around 4 hours to Nayapul through the refined meadows in Modi Khola valley. We walk downhill through green cultivated picturesque, beautifully preserved farms to the scamper Modi River, and back to Naya pul. Later we will drive back to Pokhara and stay overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 12: Drive to Kathmandu by tourist bus & overnight at Kathmandu. (B)

After a tiring trip, we will drive back to Kathmandu which will take about 6 hours by a tourist bus. This is the end of your Jomsom and Muktinath Trekking. Today you can either relax in your hotel or go for some shopping. Later you can even explore around the city and overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 13: Final Departure.

After breakfast, you will depart from Nepal to your next destination or your country.
