Our representatives will pick you up from the airport and drive you to the hotel on your arrival day. They will greet you and also help you with your luggage. If you have any questions, you can ask them. Settle in the hotel and spend the remaining day as you wish. Explore the bustling streets of Thamel and get used to your surroundings.

Today, you will visit some famous tourist sites in Kathmandu early in the morning. You will be guided by a friendly English-speaking tour guide. Visit monuments like Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. After the tour, the tour guide will drop you at your hotel. Rest for 1-2 hours and meet us for trekking briefing and preparation.

The 3 passes trek begins with a morning flight to Lukla. Lukla is our starting point of the journey. From here, you will begin trekking. The flight will be short and scenic. The landing at the Lukla airport will be quite thrilling. Porters join the group in Lukla.

We will descend from Lukla to Phakding to spend the night. This descent will help us to acclimatize. The trail goes through lush forests and small villages. We will trek past Ghat, Chheplung, and Thadokoshi Gaon before reaching Phakding. Likewise, there are many river crossings on the way.

*Note: If you are trekking in the spring or autumn seasons, the Lukla flight will be from Ramechhap Airport instead of Kathmandu Airport. So, you will leave your hotel in Kathmandu around 1:00 -2:00 AM to drive to the Ramechhap Airport, which takes around 4 to 5 hours.

The trail from Phakding goes north along the Dudh Koshi river. Cross this river numerous times via suspension bridges on the way, including the renowned Hillary Suspension Bridge. You will walk through rhododendron forests and small villages. Monjo is the last village before you officially enter the Sagarmatha National Park. From Monjo, the trail steeply ascends to Namche Bazaar.

You will have a rest day in Namche Bazaar. It is a tourist hub of the EBC trail with many facilities. In the morning, hike to the Everest View Hotel via Syangboche Airstrip. The hike offers stunning mountain views. You will see Mt. Thamserku up close on the way.

Likewise, the Hotel Everest View is popular for views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Ama Dablam. You can also hike to Khumjung School and Khumjung Monastery. Return to Namche Bazaar after the hike and rest.

From Namche Bazaar, you will trek to Tengboche village. The trail descends to Phunki Thanga, and from here, you will follow an uphill route to Tengboche village. The vegetation thins out along the way.

In this village, you will explore the Tengboche monastery, which is the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region. The view of Mt. Everest and Mt. Ama Dablam is stunning from here.

From Tengboche onwards, you will follow higher trails, enjoying fantastic landscapes. First, the trail descends to Deboche village and keeps going down till you reach the Imja Khola valley floor. From here, follow an uphill route via lush forest to Pangboche village.

As you further trek, the tree line ends, and you can see bushes and terraced fields. You will spend the night in Dingboche village, the summer valley of the Khumbu region.

You will leave the mainstream EBC trail and follow a less crowded, offbeat trail to Chhukung Valley. The trail is much more rugged and steep from the last few days, so you have to be careful.

As it is a short walk from Dingboche to Chhukung village, you may hike to Chhukung Ri to enjoy a wonderful mountain panorama. The views of Makalu, Cho Oyu, Island Peak, Ama Dablam, etc, are surreal from Chhukung Ri.

On this day, you will cross the first pass- Kongma La. Wake up early because you have to cross the pass before the strong afternoon wind strikes. Following rugged, steep tracks, you will gradually ascend towards the top of the pass.

Apart from a few trekkers, you will not see anyone else in this area. The Kongma La pass is located between the Mt. Nuptse Wall, Mihara, and Pokalde Peak. Upon reaching the top of the pass, you will see a jaw-dropping view.

Further, the trail descends along rocky terrain and steeply continues to the base of the Khumbu Glacier. You will then hike to Lobuche village to spend the night.

Trekking from Lobuche, you will pass by moraines and glaciers to Gorak Shep. The mountain views of Nuptse, Everest, and Pumori are excellent on the way. You will spend the night at the Gorak Shep, but before that, hike to the Everest Base Camp.

Leave all the heavy and unwanted luggage at Gorak Shep and continue trekking. The trail is rocky and steep. Explore and enjoy your time at the base camp and follow the same route back to Gorak Shep.

Today, you will wake up early and hike to Kala Patthar to catch a gorgeous sunrise and heavenly view of Mt. Everest. After the hike, get ready for a long descent to Dzongla. Follow the same trail back till Lobuche. After a short descent from here, you will follow a different route to Dzongla. The trail offers breathtaking scenery of towering mountains.

You will cross the second pass on this day. Cho La pass is the most difficult one among the three passes. Leave Dzongla quite early in the morning and walk uphill. The trail goes via a moraine and follows an unstable track.

You will gradually ascend to the top of the pass, from where the view is outstanding. The view of Cho La Lake and Mt. Cholatse is phenomenal. Further, descend to Tauna for the night stay.

Begin the day with a warm breakfast. After that, start trekking to beautiful Gokyo Village. The trail ascends to Longponga and continues uphill. You can see a wonderful view of Tanjung Tsho Lake on the way.

Soon, you will walk across the Ngozumpa Glacier moraine and pass by the first and second Gokyo Lakes. The Gokyo village is situated at the shore of the third Gokyo Lake. The trekking distance is short, so you will hike to the fourth and fifth Gokyo Lakes later in the day.

You have one last acclimatization today. As usual, you will go on an early morning hike. Gokyo Ri is a famous viewpoint close to Gokyo village. After the hike, spend the remaining day in Gokyo village resting.

On this day, you will cross the last pass- Renjo La. Following the trail from Gokyo village, hike up to the end of the lake. From here, you will gradually ascend to the top of the pass. The route will be peaceful. Enjoy a spectacular mountain landscape from the top of the pass and descend. On the way, you will come across frozen lakes. Further, walk downhill to Lungdeng and continue to Marlung.

Leaving Marlung, you will trek back to Namche Bazaar. The trail goes through Thame village. Here, you will explore the ancient Thame monastery. The first few hours of the trail will be less crowded and serene. You will trek past many small villages and lush forests of rhododendrons.

Everest Three High Pass Trek Permit:

You need two permits to do the Everest three high pass trek. They are the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality entrance permit & the Sagarmatha National Park entry permit. Both permits are included in our Everest three high pass trek cost.

Three Passes Trek Difficulty

Experienced trekkers with good physical and mental fitness will enjoy the Everest three high pass trek to the fullest. Do not do this trek as your first trek in the Himalayas unless you have strong fitness and are actively involved in outdoor activities. Core strength, good stamina, balance, and a positive mindset are crucial to completing the Everest three high pass trek.

The daily walking hours is 6, and the days you cross the three passes 8 to 9 hours of walking is required. The trail sees diverse climates and terrain. Mostly, the trail goes uphill or downhill. Likewise, the tracks are rugged and steep. All three passes are above 5,000 meters. Overall, you will go above 5,000 meters more than six times. High altitude increases the risk of altitude sickness.

Your fitness and age do not matter in case of altitude sickness. If you are not well-acclimatized and hydrated, you may suffer from altitude sickness during trekking. Our goal is to avoid it and treat it if you get the symptoms. The guide will help you and provide first aid if needed. Trekking at high altitudes also tires you soon because of thin air.

The Best Time to do Everest Three PassesTrekking

You will most enjoy the Everest three high pass trekking in spring (March, April, and May) and autumn (September, October, and November) seasons. These two are the best seasons to cross the three passes safely. In other seasons, the trails are much more challenging, and the weather is bad.

In the spring and autumn seasons, the weather in the Himalayas does not fluctuate much. So, Lukla flights are on time, and trekking to high altitudes is possible. Likewise, these seasons have moderate climates, so you will not feel too hot or cold. The climate does vary as the altitude increases along with the cold.

Mountain views are clear and jaw-dropping in these seasons. Not only that, but trekkers get to enjoy breathing teeming nature. Lush valleys, rhododendrons, rivers, streams, waterfalls, moraines, glaciers, etc make the sceneries mesmerizing. Moreover, the biggest Nepalese festivals also fall in spring and autumn, adding more character to your journey.

Accommodation & Meals

While trekking in the Khumbu region, the lodge will be your primary accommodation. Our Everest three high pass trek package includes basic lodges. The rooms are shared between two or three trekkers. Washrooms are common, too. You will get a small but cozy and clean space to spend the night. If your budget allows, you can upgrade the accommodation to a luxury lodge.

You will need a high-quality sleeping bag for the Everest three high pass trekking. Also, pack all the toiletries, including toilet paper, soap, wet tissues, etc. Similarly, you will also have meals in the lodges. The menu is extensive. It includes dishes like dal bhat, rice and curries, thukpa, porridge, pasta, pizza, chapati, noodles, momo, soups, etc.

You will have no issue with finding decent food during the trek. Likewise, ample vegetarian options are available everywhere. The breakfast menu usually includes pancakes, porridge, toast, eggs, sandwiches, tea, coffee, chapati, etc. Clean drinking water is available everywhere. You do not ahve to buy plastic water bottles as the lodge offers boiled drinking water.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is a must for the Everest three high pass trek. You cannot join this trek with us without travel insurance that covers emergency air evacuation and medical bills. We use your travel insurance to provide you with quick helicopter rescue and medical assistance during unseen situations.
