This amazing Everest Three High Pass Trek presents an adventurous experience of passing three high passes of Everest region Kangma-La (5500m), Cho-La (5320m) and Renjo-La (5400m).

You need to have a special permit to trek in this remote region as this trekking option includes several non-technical trails on high peaks. This high pass trek will bestow a chance to witness the world’s eighth highest peaks-Makalu (8,463m), Lhotse (8,516m), Cho-Oyu (8,201m), and Everest (8,848.86m) and several other mountains.

Plus, you can see a range of floras from pine and hemlock forests at lower altitudes, fir, juniper, birch, and rhododendron woods.

Overview of the Everest Three High Pass Trek-21 Days

We will begin trekking as we land in Lukla and trek to Phakding. Then, we will walk by eye-catching pine woods next to Dudh Koshi River crossing and walk side to side with Sherpa villages Benkar, Monjo, Chimoa, and Jorsale to reach Namche Bazaar.

On the way, we can also visit Tengboche Monasteries lying at the altitude of 3860m and capture the splendor of marvelous Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Khangtaiga, Nuptse, Lhotse, etc.

To climb Kangmala Pass (5500m), we may either climb over the hill lying northwest of Chhukung on top of the moraine of the Nuptse Glacier. Or optionally we might walk down to Bibre and stroll on the path above the Niyang River.

The immense vistas of Island Peak Valley and Amphu Lapcha Edge will captivate us on the way. Undeniably, the scenery of frozen lakes and the Khumbu Glacier will captivate us from the top.

We will also trek to Everest Base Camp which lies at an altitude of 5360m and Mt. Everest, the tallest mountain on the earth will be facing you. Besides, we will hike ahead from Gorakshep to Kalapathhar lying at the altitude of 5550m.

We will also trek to another high pass Cho–La pass lying at an altitude of 5320m. We will pass through a point and an old moraine on the one side, before commencing the wobbly path and from the top, the impressive views of Ama Dablam, Kangtega, Thamserku and Rolwaling Valley set in the west will allure you.

We will also trek to Renjo-La pass (5400m) from Gokyo, we get to view the astounding views of the four highest mountains Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse and Taboche.

As you land at Kathmandu airport, a representative from Trekking Guide Team Adventure will wait for you with a play card. S/he will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. Overnight at Kathmandu.

After breakfast, we will have a significant sightseeing journey to some of the historical and cultural sets enlisted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will visit Boudhanath, a Buddhist stupa dominates the skyline and it is one of the major on the earth.

Swayambhunath (Monkey temple) lying on the small hill seize Buddha’s eyes on the four sides of the stupa; Pashupatinath temple, a well-known Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is sited on the shores of the holy Bagmati River.

Patan Durbar Square lying on the center of the town of Lalitpur which appeals to visitors showing up historic royal palace where the Malla Kings of Lalitpur once resided. Overnight at Kathmandu.

At 4:30 Am, you may have a cup of tea and ask the hotel for your packing breakfast and be ready by 5 Am at Hotel lobby, our car will drop you to the airport for your Lukla flight. Today we will take a wonderful flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2827m).

After 40 minutes, we will land on a runway and our caretaker will help us carry our belongings. Then we will walk down to the Dudh Koshi River, where we connect with the main path to Namche Bazaar.

After moving all the way through the small area of Ghat (2550m), we will soon arrive at our tea house at Phakding. Overnight at tea house.

Note: The weather in Lukla is unpredictable and always changing. Sometimes due to bad weather, sometimes the flight may be delayed or cancelled. If the flight is cancelled, you will have to return back to the hotel.

The transportation back to the hotel and accommodation on this night is not included. You will have to pay additional for this yourself. If the weather is clear the next day, you will get either the 3rd or 4th flight to Lukla.

If still, the weather is not clear, there will be an option for helicopter flight also. The cost of a helicopter flight is not fixed. It will be quoted by the airlines on the same day. The airlines will use your flight ticket plus, you will have to pay an additional approx 250 to 300 USD.

The total cost for a helicopter flight is 400 USD approx. You will have to pay an additional 250 USD combining your Lukla flight ticket. The weather problem is rare, it only happens sometimes.

But you need to know this information in case the weather goes bad. This does not happen all the time, this is only important information you need to know.

Today, we will leave Phakding and we will pass by arresting pine woods next to Dudh Koshi River crossing more than a few suspension bridges and walk side to side with Sherpa villages Benkar, Manjo, Chimoa, and Jorsale.

Plus, the magnificent view of Mt. Thamserku (6618 m) will captivate you on the way. Then, we will walk side by side with the Dudh Koshi river to the union spot of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi Rivers.

Now, the trail climbs gradually crossing a suspension bridge after that invigorating sight of Mt. Everest as well as Nuptse-Lhotse edge will allure you. Walking further we will finally reach Namche Bazaar, a prosperous trading town. Overnight at guest house.

Acclimatization is a must according to health experts as our body needs to accustom with the high altitude atmosphere. Therefore, in order to avoid altitude sickness, we need to rest. Alternatively, we can make a trip to Sagarmatha (Everest) National park where we can notice a variety of plants and animal life.

Or, we can also walk around the traditional Sherpa community named Khumjung with shows up the stunning views of Thamserku, Mt, Everest, Khaantaiga, Ama Dablam, and many more. In the evening, we return back to Namche Bazar for overnight.

This is one of the major days of the trek. We will leave Namche Bazaar to reach Tengboche taking around 4 hours. On the way, we can make a trip to Tengboche Monasteries lying at the altitude of 3860m.

We will walk on a quiet plane trail and get a chance to mark the splendor of marvelous Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Khangtaiga, Nuptse, Lhotse, etc. Overnight at guest house.

We will on this day leave Tengboche and stroll down through fir, juniper, birch, and rhododendron woods. We will also have steady climbs. We will pass the Imja River, and then the path moves to Pangboche village.

Here we can witness the wonderful peaks including Ama Dablam. Plus, we will also climb from side to side with unwrapped alpine hillsides before traversing the Imja Khola and arrive at the settlement of Dingboche.

We will also walk to the Chhukung Valley situated beneath a far-fetched rock wall that joins Nuptse and Lhotse. Overnight at guest house.

In order to avoid altitude sickness, we need to rest again at Dingboche. We will explore around Chhukung valley situated beneath a far-fetched rock wall that joins Nuptse and Lhotse on this day.

The top of the Imja valley on the moraines near to Island Peak (6189 m) is exceptional. Plus, we will also notice the huge south faces of Lhotse to the north, Amphu Lapcha pass (5845 m), the enormous fluted ice walls to the south and to the southwest Ama Dablam stands exceptionally. Overnight at camp.

On this day we need to be prepared to carry a lot of water and some snacks or a readymade food to eat on the way as we won’t find any lodges on the way. We may either ascend over the hill lying northwest of Chhukung above the moraine of the Nuptse Glacier.

Or optionally we might walk down to Bibre and walk on the path above the Niyang River. The great vistas of Island peak valley and Amphu Lapcha edge will enthrall us on the way. Then finally, we will reach Chhukung valley. Overnight at a tea house.

This is one of the significant days of the trek as we will pass the highest pass of the trek on this day. We will enter a wide basin scattered with frozen lakes. After walking for around eight hours we will reach Kongma La pass lying at the altitude of 5500m.

As we reach the top of the pass, we will discover cairn wrapped with prayer flags. And definitely, the scenery of frozen lakes and the Khumbu Glacier will captivate us.

We will also have difficulties while descending from the pass. After that, the track turns north after taking us from side to side with Khumbu Glacier to get to Lobuche. Overnight in Lobuche.

We will trek to Gorakshep (5140m) on this day. This will be one of the challenging days of the trek. We will walk next to the Khumbu Glacier to get to up to the most popular set – Everest Base Camp lying at an altitude of 5360m and Mt Everest, the tallest peak on the earth.

Moreover, the view of the Khumbu Icefall from the base camp is wonderful. After spending worthy time at the base camp, we will return back to Gorak Shep. Overnight at tea house.

This will be another interesting day of the trek. We will hike further on from Gorakshep to Kalapathhar lying at the elevation of 5550m. The wonderful peak views of Lingtren (6,697m), Khumbutse (6,623m), Pumori (7,145m), etc will acknowledge us.

We will also discern the huge face of Changtse (7,750m) that separates Nepal from Tibet. We will after that walk back to Pheriche for staying overnight. Overnight at tea house.

On this day we will descend down to Dzonglha which go off from the major path. This is another significant part of the trek as we will pass another high pass lying at an altitude of 5320m.

Moving ahead, we will pass through a point and an old moraine on the one side, before commencing the wobbly path. After that, from Cho–La pass, we will witness impressive views of Ama Dablam, Kangtega, Thamserku and Rolwaling Valley set in the west.

We will also notice the vast Cho La Lake stretches on the base Mt. Cholatse. The lake pours with us for longer time to a wide basin. And then we will walk to Tauna. We will be staying at Tauna, a rather large small settlement for a night.

This is one of the major days of the trek. Additionally, you will trek to Gokyo lying at the height of 4750m. We will pass the muddled, dangerous moraines of Ngozumpa Glacier–the main glacier in Nepal.

We will also observe the series of eye-catching Gokyo Lake. We will be enthralled by varied landscapes of the Gokyo Valley and peaks flanking Tibet. We will after that visit the second lake of astonishing Gokyo which will totally captivate you.

At the coast lying on the east, we can observe the settlement of Gokyo. We will trek for roughly 5 hours today. Overnight at tea house.

On this day we will hike up to Gokyo-Ri taking around 3 hours which lies at the elevation of 5360m. From the peak, we can observe the striking view of Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu etc. Then we will move back to Gokyo again. Overnight at tea house.

This is another important day of the trek. We will trek to Renjo-La pass (5400m) from Gokyo, we get to view the astounding views of the four highest mountains Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse and Tawoche.

Views from Renjo La are similar ones viewed from Gokyo-Ri which includes scenes of third Gokyo Lake as well as Gokyo Village beneath the gray mark of Ngozumpa Glacier.

Moreover, we will walk further to Gokyo from side to side with the glacier. We will also trek to Merlung which is set on the east beach of the Bhote Kosi. Overnight in Merlong.

We will walk down from the Marulung we will traverse the Bhote Kosi and then we will walk through the valley of Langmuche River. We will also walk down after traversing a bridge to reach Samde.

The lane suddenly descends to Thamo village which holds Khari monastery. After that, we will move to the small village of Phurte which offers an option to visit Laudo monastery.

We, ultimately arrive at Namche again all the way through some colorful prayer flags, Gompas, Mani walls and Chortens for the overnight at guest house.

We will on this day trek to Phakding lying at the altitude of 2610m taking 3 hours. Subsequently, you will get to view outstanding Sherpa settlement named Choplung. The path also goes beside the Dudh Koshi valley. Overnight we will stay in Phakding.

We will arrive at Lukla in approximately 5 hours after departing from Manjo. At Lukla, we will celebrate the last part of the trek. Overnight at tea house.

Early in the morning, we will take a flight to return back to Kathmandu. After that, we will transfer to our hotel in Kathmandu. Rest of the day to explore around Kathmandu if any remaining. Overnight in hotel.

Today is the last day of your Everest Three High Pass Trek. Our representative will help you to drive to the airport for the departure.

The EBC trek begins with an early morning flight to Lukla, either from Kathmandu Airport or Ramechhap Airport. It is a short but beautiful flight with stunning Himalayan mountain views. From Lukla, we will begin trekking with porters and descend to Phakding for the night stay. The trail goes through forests and small villages, offering stunning views of mountains like Kongde Ri and Chamlang.

*Note: If you take a Lukla flight from Ramechhap Airport, you will leave the hotel in Kathmandu around 1:00 AM and dive to the Ramechhap airport in sharing bus. During the peak trekking seasons, the Lukla flights get shifted to Ramechhap Airport because of very high air traffic.
