What to expect during the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek 8 days?
On the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, you will get to explore two popular and beautiful villages- Ghorepani and Ghandruk. The trek begins with a short drive from Pokhara to Birethanti (1,025 m/3,363 ft). From here, you will walk via small settlements and lush forests to Ulleri (1,960 m/6,430 m). The trail includes climbing on many staircases.
The next day, continue trekking to Ghorepani village (2,860 m/9,385 ft) via lush rhododendron, pine, oak, and bamboo forests. On the way, enjoy breathtaking views of Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m/26,545 ft), Mt. Nilgiri (7,061 m/23,166 ft), Mt. Hiunchuli (6,441 m/21,132 ft), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m/26,795 ft), Mt. Fishtail (6,993 m/22,943 ft), Mt. Gangapurna (7,455 m/24,459 ft), etc.
You will then hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m/10,525 ft) viewpoint to witness a stunning sunrise along with a stretching view of the Himalayan mountains. The trail further traverses through dense forests to Ghandruk village (1,940 m/6,364 ft) via Tadapani (2,630 m/8,628 ft). These villages are home to Gurung and Magar communities mainly. Most of the Gurkha soldiers are from these villages.
The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek ends in the same village, from where you have started it. You will have almost a full day in Pokhara to relax and enjoy your time in this lovely city.
