The hike begins with the scence drive from Pokhara to Kande which is followed by a hike in lush green forest, pass by terracing farming fields to Australian Camp at 2060m. Australian Camp is the maximum height you will reach and you will later hike down to Dhampus village at 1650 m which is also the trek starting point for Annapurna Base Camp

On this hiking route, you will enjoy the spectacular mountain views, have chance to interact with local community, Gurung people. You can also have the delicious lunch in Dhampus village when in the background of panoramic mountain views. To return back you will descend to Phedi at 1100 m and drive back to your hotel in Pokhara which ensures the a hassle-free experience.

7:00 AM – 8:00 AM | Hotel Pickup & Drive to Kande 

At 7 am in the morning, our guide will pick you up from hotel in Pokhara. Then, you will enjoy scenic drive from Pokhara to Kande which includes view of distant Annapurna peaks, terraced hills, Pokhara valley and Phewa lake. The drive will take around 1 hour to arrive, and you will arrive in Kande.

8:00 AM – 10:00 AM | Hike from Kande to Australian Camp (2060 m)

As soon as you arrive in Kande, you will be starting your hike. Your hike route will be peaceful lush forests, terraced fields with crops and traditional Gurung communities’ villages. After hiking for around 1.5-2 hours, you will arrive at Australain Camp (2060 m). There you will stop for beautiful views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Hiunchuli, and Lamjung Himal before continuing your trek to Dhampus Village at 1,650 m.

10 AM – 2:00 PM | Explore Dhampus Village & Lunch (1,650 m)

After you arrive in Dhampus Village, you will have daal bhat (Nepali food) as lunch with awe-aspiring mountain views. Later you will have some free time. You will explore the beauty of Dhampus Village while getting to know about the way of life there. You will feel the warm hospitality of Gurung community.

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM | Descent to Phedi

After lunch, begin the descent back to Phedi, passing through serene forests and open trails while enjoying the beautiful landscapes along the way.

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM | Drive Back to Pokhara (822 m) from Phedi

From Phedi, enjoy a comfortable drive back to Pokhara, arriving at your hotel by late afternoon and completing a scenic, worry-free day trip.

What to carry for 1 Dhampus hike via Australian Camp?

You don't have to carry much for 1 day hike from Pokhara. The packing list for the hike are:

  • Small day backpack of around 20 liters. 
  • Water bottle with 1 to 1.5 liters of water for hydration.
  • Snacks/Energy bars, dry fruits are the best. 
  • Sun protection: cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen (SPF 50+ recommended).
  • Light jacket for morning and evening.
  • Waterproof jacket for monsoon season.
  • Comfortable hiking shoes. 
  • Trekking pants or comfortable stretch trousers.
  • Quick-dry t-shirt – avoid cotton if possible.
