Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has published a notice regarding the diversion of entire Lukla flights from TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport) to Manthali airport, Raamechaap. All flights to and from Lukla will be operated from Ramechaap airport. Due to increased flight frequency and traffic congestion all flights to and from Lukla has been rerouted from Kathmandu Airport to Manthali Airport, Ramechhap. Among the short domestic flights from Kathmandu to Short takeoff and landing airport like (Lukla airport) Lukla flights are in high volume. And in every trekking season the volume of Lukla flights increase more. It puts a huge impact in regular operation of International as well as other domestic flights from TIA. Hence with an objective to minimize the traffic congestion and smooth operation of the flights in some extent, TIA has issued the notice to conduct the Lukla flight as from Ramechaap for the upcoming trekking season (August – December).

Available options to get there at Manthali airport for Lukla Flight.

Our company “Trekking Guide Team Adventure Pvt Ltd” will also conduct all our Lukla flights to and from Manthali airport of Ramechaap. Ramechaap airport is the closet airport to Kathmandu from where Lukla flights can be conducted successfully and smoothly. It is 132 km from Kathmandu and it takes 3 – 4 hours to reach Ramechaap from Kathmandu depending upon the traffic. Most of the Lukla flights take off early in the morning in order to avoid dangerous winds and unpredictable weather in Lukla. So we will have to be at the airport early in the morning to catch a flight in time. To reach Ramechaap airport in time we will take a private jeep / HIace early in the morning at 2 AM or we can either travel to Ramechaap one day early to catch the Lukla flight.
